Evaluation of Psorolin Medicated Bathing Bar for its efficacy retention

Psorolin medicated bathing bar was tested for its efficacy during its shelf life by considering the following parameters such as physical, chemical and TLC characteristics. The free oil extracted from the Psorolin medicated bathing bar was used for the study.


  • The percentage of freely extractable oil present in Psorolin medicated bathing bar with reference to their age was found to be constant.
  • The chemical, physical and TLC characteristics of Kumari and Indrajava thailam were well preserved in Psorolin medicated bathing bar throughout its shelf life.

The retention of the characteristics of the herbal oils proves the therapeutic benefit of Psorolin medicated bathing bar.

Recognition of PMBB as a “drug” by clinicians and patients


This study was conducted to evaluate the drug value of Psorolin medicated bathing bar (PMBB) by clinicians and patients in treatment of psoriasis.


A questionnaire with a set of 10 questions was prepared to capture the quantifiable therapeutic benefit of PMBB in Psoriasis treatment.108 doctors (Dermatologists (12), Ayurveda/ Siddha practitioners (96)) from different states participated in the study.


Study findings

  • Among 12 dermatologists, 7 had rated PMBB to be not only effective but also essential for the treatment of psoriasis.
  • The other 5 dermatologists rated PMBB to be effective however not essential.
  • Among the 96 ISM practitioners, 62 had rated PMBB to be effective and essential while 33/96 had rated PMBB to be effective but not essential.
